Doors
That question caused me to stop and reflect. Where do I find them?
Doors to me are a very enticing subject to photograph. They represent and reflect much of what is on both sides of them. A door that is dull, austere and severe says just as much about the person on the other side as does a colorful, whimsical, and inventive one.
Doors can be invitations or warnings. They are a label and a greeting. Always a door is the opening to another story.
By looking at a door you will learn much of what is on the other side. A little rickety tin door with a splash of color or a flower hung on it will often reveal someone far more generous and wealthy than the person a massive, ornate, and ostentatious door struggles to conceal.
As we talked and walked down that street, a gentle little voice offered us a tiny, shy “hello”. We turned to see a smile peeking out of a door.
I thought about my friend’s question. ‘Those doors are all around us. You have to be open to seeing them,’ was my answer.
